Certain recurring concepts emerged within the series of interventions and the extensive debate triggered during the conference organised by the <strong>Osservatorio Allestimenti by Prostand<\/strong> held on February 28th at <strong>KEY<\/strong>.<br \/>Virtual reality is nothing new, in the sense that the world began dreaming about virtual reality long before it actually became a reality (if you\u2019ll pardon the pun). It originates from <g id=\"gid_2\">Hollywood\u2019s science fiction epics<\/g>: <g id=\"gid_3\">Star Wars<\/g> with the Jedi council meetings via hologram, the dystopian <g id=\"gid_4\">Matrix<\/g> with its interactive neuro-simulation, through to the launch of <g id=\"gid_5\">Avatar in Times Square<\/g> in 2022 thanks to the biggest anamorphic 3D video advertising operation ever seen, in which <g id=\"gid_6\">45 screens were connected<\/g> in the world\u2019s most famous square, in the Big Apple.<br \/><g id=\"gid_7\">It\u2019s art. No longer eternal art but temporary art<\/g>: the installations of Turkish artist <g id=\"gid_8\">REFIK ANADOL<\/g> whose anamorphic <g id=\"gid_10\">3D waves<\/g> are exhibited at the <g id=\"gid_9\">MOMA in New York<\/g>, the i<g id=\"gid_11\">mmersive pavilion<\/g> dedicated to <g id=\"gid_12\">Leonardo da Vinci in Brescia<\/g>, the <g id=\"gid_13\">immersive exhibition on Van Ghog in Milan<\/g>. And it would be impossible not to mention the gigantic <g id=\"gid_14\">Sphere<\/g> in the heart of Las Vegas, covered <g id=\"gid_15\">with 1 million screens<\/g>.<br \/>How will virtual reality, augmented reality, immersive reality, anamorphic 3D video technology and holograms impact face-to-face events?<br \/>There is every reason to believe that they\u2019re going to <g id=\"gid_16\">become increasingly imprtance to the point of being essential<\/g>, hugely expanding and multiplying the options available. Completely virtual events have numerous benefits, including those of a financial nature and others related to environmental sustainability, but there are certain aspects which are currently the subject of study but cannot yet replace physical contact: the way things feel and smell, along with the pleasure of a face-to-face event, not to mention <g id=\"gid_17\">soft networking<\/g>, which is really important, and chance meetings. Oh yes. When we attend an event in person there\u2019s always that element of chance that makes the difference: bumping into someone unexpectedly, coming across something you weren\u2019t looking for and which you had no idea even existed.
